Don't Work

Robert Huizenga Ph.D.'s Short List of Signs That A Spouse Is Cheating

  • Mutual friends start acting strangely toward you.
  • Your spouse sets up a new e-mail account and doesn't tell you about it.
  • Your spouse gets a cell phone or pager and doesn't tell you about it within a day or two following purchase.
  • Your spouse deletes incoming e-mails when they used to accumulate.
  • Your spouse raises hypothetical questions such as, "Do you think it's possible to love more than one person at a time?"
  • Your spouse has a sudden desire to be helpful with the laundry.
  • Your spouse has unexplained scratches or bruises on his or her neck or back.
  • Your spouse picks fights and then stomps out of the house.
  • You find out by accident he/she she took one or more vacation days or personal time off from work and never told you.
  • Your spouse's co-workers are uncomfortable in your presence.
  • Your spouse spends an excessive amount of time on the computer, especially after you have gone to bed.
  • Your spouse is away from home, either nights or on trips, more than previously.
  • The amount of money your spouse usually deposited into the household checking account drops off.
  • Your spouse seems less comfortable around you and is "touchy" and easily moved to anger.
  • Your intuition (gut feeling) tells you that something is not right.
  • Your spouse displays a definite change in attitude towards everyone in the home.
  • AND, not to be minimized, the fact that you wonder about it at all is actually a very strong sign.
